We recently attended the SME XPO, to celebrate our launch. We got to meet hundreds of people over the two days - it was a great experience as well as a great way to introduce our new platform.
Our offering is unique, as we're offering hosting in a way that (to my knowledge) others aren't. The essential premise, is that every single website we host is basically in its own 'virtual private server' (VPS). I was explaining this to a few people who really 'got it' and understood what we were doing, but the first question they had was... "can that scale?".
We've spent the last 4 years developing this platform (we first co-located our initial server/test platform in May of 2019 - although we'd working on the principles before that!) ensuring that in a nutshell - yes it can scale. We have tried quite literally hundreds of different ways of doing this, ranging from "off the shelf" to "completely bespoke". We've tried operating systems from FreeBSD to Debian, Ubuntu and more... (if you're curious, we eventually settled on (mostly) Ubuntu).
So, in short, yes the quantity of resources needed to build our hosting platform in the way that we've built it, does mean it needs more resources than if you were to take the typical "shared hosting" approach. Many of our competitors, of which I have tried and test many times - by default will simply set you up in a cPanel (or similar) environment. Why? Because it's very easy and very profitable.
But that doesn't make it the best option, and that's what we're all about.
Providing every customer, no matter how big or small, with the best hosting environment for their website. Many people consider the platform perhaps "overkill" for a small static site - but it's not just speed that we focus on. Speed is, of course, the biggest priority - as even reducing the site load time by hundreds of milliseconds can make a big difference (especially on eCommerce) - but it doesn't matter how busy your site is - if it's down/broken, it's down/broken... and that's potentially lost sales.
Most hosts, and website design companies, monitor their hosting platform. But they generally only monitor the servers... we focused a huge amount of energy on ensuring we could monitor every website, and get alerted if there are any problems whatsoever in a matter if minutes.
We also saw most hosting companies offering daily backups, or perhaps backups every four hours or so, making you pay a premium for more frequent backups. But our approach here? Backups should be included as standard and should be the best they could possibly be. So we continously back up our platform, and as soon as a backup finishes... it starts again! So you can rest assured knowing that we'll always have the most up to date copy of your website stored safely off-site.
There's a huge amount more to our platform, as I haven't even touched on the mail side of things - but the main point to focus on is this: if you're looking for the very best web hosting - whether you're an agency with hundreds of sites or you simply have just one website - pick up the phone and call us today on 020 7870 8025.
